Letters to the Editor

"Sam Aiono Took 3rd in State, Not 4th"

Sam Aiono wrestled novice 90lbs at State in Freestlye ... when it came to wrestling for 3rd and 4th he beat Steven Quintana and placed 3rd in Freestyle not 4th ... we have the bronze state medal on the wall to prove it.  We hope this will not effect his lineup at the Regionals tournament in Pocatello as it a clear error! Please let us know. Thank You. Leah and Jeff Aiono (Sam's Parents).  He got 2nd in Folkstyle ... 3rd in Freestyle at state and this is his first year. He had been wrestling freestyle at total of about 3 months his entire life at that point ... so it does matter to us that things are put right. :).

Editor's Response

Thank you for letting me know. I will get that corrected.

And, no, it will not affect seeding at West Regionals. At West Regionals, they only seed the top two, trying to make sure they do not meet each other in the first two rounds. They also try not to allow them to meet other state top-two finishers in the first two rounds, if it is possible.

Please don’t feel like you’re being a burden pointing out errors. I do my best to make sure things are correct but, occasionally, the information I receive is flawed, and I have to do my best with what I have at hand.

I will get that corrected for you.

Thanks you're awesome ... I bet that is one heck of big job you have to handle there! I appreciate your time and effort!

Sincerely,

Leah Aiono

Thank you for the kind words. It is a lot of work, but it makes it worth it every time I get comments like these from you or when one of the kids comes up and talks to me about how excited they are to be ranked, or that they’re going to get ahead of someone else in the rankings, etc. I think it helps keep kids charged to continue to compete.
