Letters to the Editor
"Coaches Association 5A
I looked at your rankings that were dated 12/20/10
and noticed quite a few errors with wrong weights and placings. I know that the season is still early and it
is always difficult to rank kids; not to mention you
don't have all the info about tournaments and weekly
duals. So I will fill you in on what I know, and the
mistakes that I have noticed.
Brody Quintana is not at 130 lbs, he has been
wrestling 140 all year, and dropped to 135lbs for the Viewmont tournament.
Chaz Lavato wrestled 140 lbs at the Viewmont Tournament,
and 135 lbs at Layton Tournament, not sure what weight he
will go this year.
Young at135 lbs from Lone Peak is JV, and should not be
ranked, you are getting him confused with Cory
Hancock from Lone Peak. Hancock placed at 135 lb at
Layton Tournament but has switched permanently to 140 lbs,
where he has been much stronger.
Kendrick Roberts is not 135, he is 152lbs, and has
never wrestled lower than that weight.
Bryce Boyer is also not 145, but has been 152lb all
year, and beat Roberts at the Viewmont Tournament.
Nick Pappas also wrestled at 152, taking 5th at Viewmont.
has also beaten Nick Runyan 9-1, Nate Lamb 4-2, in
Region Duals. Beat Cody Bunderson 4-1, Tanner Merkley
8-5 in the Wasatch Duals Tournament (where Hancock placed
first). He pinned Chaz Lavato and the South Summit kid,
and has only one loss at 140 lbs, (to Brandon Lloyd,
whom he beat 11-5 the next day at the Viewmont tournament).
You have him ranked 4th at 140 but he has beaten the
kids ranked higher than him, with no losses.
Not sure if your rankings have a bearing on the All-Star Tournament choices, but if they do, you are going
to want to change some of your rankings. Hope this
input was constructive, thanks for all you do.
