"Thanks for the Web Site's Good
Information ... How Do I Start Officiating Junior High?"
Bill:
First off, let me say thank you for the work you do on
the Web site. It always has good information. I
had a question about who does the officiating for the
junior high and young kids matches. This is my first
year has an official after wrestling for the past 15
years and could use the practice of conducting more
matches.
Thank you for the help and the Web site.

You can
volunteer at the kids tournaments anytime that you want. I
can’t imagine that ANYone would balk at that. (And we need
all the help we can get, so just contact the tournament
director.)
In terms of
junior-high tournaments, it depends on the area. In
Granite School District, I believe they are handled
through the same channels as the refs for high-school
matches. I think that it would be best to contact
Toby Tobiasson
about that, because I know that he is a very well
connected official who does a lot of training.
For
junior-high tournaments outside of Granite School
District, since most are conducted through City or County
Rec (rather than through the schools), they fall into the
same bucket at the kids tournaments.
And thank you
for the kind words. It’s a lot of work, but comments like
yours from people using the site make it all worth it.
