UVSC Dual Season Opening
by Brent Johnson

Orem, Utah Utah Valley State will get its dual season underway as the Wolverines head to Colorado for two tournaments in two days. On Saturday, UV will
compete in the Jack Hancock Dual Invitational in Golden, Colo., before moving to an open format for the Old Chicago/Northern Colorado Open in Greeley, Colo., on Sunday.

"We are excited to wrestle Oregon State," head coach Greg Williams said. "It will be a good opportunity for our younger guys to see where we expect to be. We are focusing on improvement each week."

Injuries have hendered UV early in the season. The Wolverines have lost Daniel Polkowske (133) to a shoulder injury. Also, Alex Knight (133) and Richard Winger (141) have been lost for the season with knee injuries.

The Wolverines officially got their season underway last week at the Cowboy Open at the University of Wyoming. Several wrestlers came away with wins including Richard Winger, who led all UV attached wrestlers with 10 team points including a pair of pins. Unattached wrestlers Ben Kjar (second place) and Gerhart Vuksinick (third place) placed in their respective weights.

At the Jack Hancock Dual Invitational, Utah Valley will get underway with a match at 9:30 a.m. against Oregon State in Pool 4. If the Wolverines win, they
would wrestle the winner of the James Madison and Eastern Michigan Dual. The winner of each Pool will play in an evening Championship Tournament.
