Services were held Saturday May 3, 2008 for a
14-year-old Payson boy who was killed when a vehicle
struck him while he was riding his foot scooter home
from a Young Men's activity about 9 p.m. on a dark
Tuesday evening, April 29, 2008. A family friend
witnessed the accident and called the Wilsons
immediately.
Hyrum Bo Wilson, son of Jennifer Ann
Jacobson and George H."Butch" Wilson, was born in Payson
on July 29, 1993. He attended Mt Nebo Jr. High School
where he was in eighth grade and on the wrestling team.
The day following the accident, the students at Bo's
school all wore green, Bo's favorite color. They also
delivered sacks of remembrances to the family. The
family was surprised at how many people his influence
had touched in only 14 short years.¬ His mother Jen
said, "Bo was a stranger to boredom,¬ a special friend
to mischievousness, and he enjoyed everything he did."
The driver was a 20-year-old man who lived in Bo's
ward. The driver could not see Bo and struck him.
The driver tried to resuscitate Bo. Officials say
the driver was not speeding and they are calling the
situation a "tragic accident."
Students and faculty at Mt. Nebo Jr. High were all
shocked and saddened by the news. The administration had
grief counselors available all day and will for a while
for anyone who needs it. Tears were shed, posters for
the family made, hugs given and memories of Bo shared by
all.
Students are collecting money, and all proceeds from
the school dance this month will go to the family. The
school is flying its flag at half mast and Bo's locker
has been decorated respectfully in remembrance.
Bo is the grandson of Jim and CaraLee Phouts, Hyrum
and Pat Wilson, Lynn and Sharon Jacobson and
great-grandson of Marion Mikesell. He has five
brothers and sisters: Gus Lynn, Abby Jo, Samantha
(Sammy) and twins Carsen and Bridger, and he will be
anxious to¬ see them all again in Heaven.
