Taylorsville's Ruiz Wins Another
Greco-Roman Wrestling Title
Taylorsville's Justin Ruiz won his fifth
national wrestling title by defeating R.C. Johnson at the
U.S. National Greco-Roman Championships in Las Vegas on
Friday night.
A former world bronze medalist, Ruiz
stopped Johnson 4-1 and 1-1 in the 211.5-pound final at
the Las Vegas Convention Center. Ruiz had a three-point
body lock in the first period, and scored the final point
in the second period for the victory.
Ruiz will try to secure a spot at the 2008
Beijing Games during the U.S. Olympic Trials in Las Vegas
in June.
