District Honors Chamberlain with
Athletic Award
Nebo School District is proud to recognize
Springville High School athlete Jason Chamberlain as the
recipient of the "Award of Excellence in Athletics." This
is the first year for this award.
From Jason's ninth-grade year until now he
has proven to be the top wrestler in the nation.¬ Jason
has great characteristics and winning attitude along with
being extremely humble.¬ Being a great wrestler is just an
added bonus.¬
Jason's record of 191-2 includes 98 pins
and four state championships. He holds the record for the
most wins and best record in two undefeated seasons.
Jason was a team captain on his high
school wrestling team and was honored by USA Utah as the
"Wrestler of the Year" in 2007. He was a Junior National
Freestyle champion and Greco-Roman runner-up in 2007. In
both 2006 and 2007, he was the NHSCA national champion.¬
He has been the recipient of the Academic All-Region award
from the Utah High School Activities Association the past
four years.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and
Museum selected Jason Chamberlain as the 2008 state and
regional winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence
Award. Jason attended Honors Weekend on May 30-31 to
personally accept this award.
He has served as a teachers aid in sports
medicine classes and as a volunteer youth leader for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He has spent
numerous volunteer hours coaching and officiating youth
wrestling activities and was a camp counselor for the
Rulon Gardner summer camp.
He carried a 3.75 GPA and will be
attending Boise State University on an athletic/academic
scholarship next fall as a student-wrestler. He is
projected to wrestle at 141 pounds in college.
